What is CO.STARTERS?
CO.STARTERS is a 9-week facilitator-led course, offered once a week for three hours. The cohort based program equips aspiring entrepreneurs with the insights, relationships, and tools needed to turn ideas into action and turn a passion into a sustainable and thriving endeavor!
What is covered?
You will develop and fine-tune your business idea, receiving constructive feedback from peers, advisors, and potential customers. By updating your approach based on real-time feedback you will be able to pivot or move forward. The nine-week course curriculum is taught by Chris Paradies, president of Paradies Law, P.A. and includes:
Week 1: Knowing Yourself: Assumptions, Working Styles, Team Building, Obstacles
Week 2: Knowing Your Customer: Problem. Solution, Benefit, Competition, Advantage, Customer
Speaker: JJ Roberts is a Director at TEC Garage and an entrepreneur who has successfully launched small businesses. JJ will share his story with a focus on the importance of understanding the customer and how initial assumptions about business changed over time through customer discovery
Week 3: Getting the Relationship Right: Marketing & Message, Getting, Keeping & Growing Customers
Speaker – Jeff Greenhalgh, President-Owner, Glovemate Sports, Inc. will share innovative marketing strategies used to get customers to know, like and trust his business.
Week 4: Building the Model to Scale: Starting Small, Distribution, Revenue, Typical Sale, Price
Week 5: Strengthening Your Structure: Business Structures, Licenses, IP, Hiring
Speaker – Chris Paradies, president of Paradies Law, P.A. will discuss why legal stuff matters. Chris will focus on how the decisions you make may have future consequences
Week 6: Discovering the Bottom Line: Startup & Ongoing Needs, Fixed/Variable Costs, Break-Even Point
Speaker – Craig Johnson, Founder & CEO, Field Forensics, Inc. will share what it really costs to start and run a business
Week 7: Accounting for Growth: Break-Even Point, Sales Projections, Cash Flow, Accounting
Speaker – Ashby Green, Founder, Gazelle Financial Planning & Analysis will discuss the importance of keeping financial records, even if you can’t afford a CPA, bookkeeper, software, etc.
Week 8: Planning for the Future: Raising Capital, Growth Plans, Goal Setting, Pitch Prep
Speaker – Chuck Egerter, Founder and President of Eagle Datagistics will share his story of what it took to get the business started.
Week 9: CELEBRATION NIGHT! Sharing your story.

TEC Garage has received funding from Creative Pinellas for scholarships to fund participants in CO.STARTERS. Scholarships are open to aspiring artists, arts organizations and arts related organizations. Only 16 scholarships will be awarded.
